Shri Rameshwar temple  

      Lord Rameshwar (Lord Shiva) is a resident deity of Malvan. When your vehicle enters in malvan city, at end of kumbharmath slope, you will see, three to four old temples boast at left side of the road, the last one is Lord Rameshwar temple. First one is Lord Narayan (Lord Vishnu) temple. The Goddess Sateri (Sister of Lord Narayan & Rameshwar) temple is at middle.

     Rameshwar temple built before 1000 years ago. It is said that savkars & mechants (rich men) of Malvan built these all temples of Dewoolwada as a sanctity.

    Now days, renovation of Lord Rameshwar temple is carried over by people of Malvan. This temple has rectangular shape with two spacious mandap (halls) supported by plane rounded pillars. A front doorway is covered with porches, and the openings of these porches are ornamented with pillars and arches. The sanctum internally a square & externally crowned with a graceful tower. The self existent Shivlingam is housed in the sanctum (inner section) of the temple. The Shivalingam is seen in a depression on the floor of the sanctum; water constantly oozes out from the Kalash on the top of the Shivalingam.  

    Everyday, devotees keep coming to the temple and prayers go on.

Shri Sateri Temple

      Near to the Rameshwar temple there is another old temple shri Sateri temple. in this temple only anthill is present at the place of idol. In Shravan ( August-September) a feast is celebrated, thousands of devotees come from Malvan & outside to offer ottie (Coconut, green cloth & bangles, kumkum ) & pray for happy life.

Shri Jarimari Temple  

     At kumbharmath, where slope starts, on right side of the road a small old temple boasts on a hill. In Shravan (August-September) month, on first four Tuesdays, many devotees comes here with ottie (A green colored cloth, green bangles with kumkum) & prays the goddess. On each Tuesday people came from various places to pray the goddess.  

This temple has a huge sabhamandap (outer hall) with front entry door & square shaped sanctum with 10 feet height. Sanctum has two doors to enter & exit. The Sabhamandap is constructed just before 30-35 years. All Gavkar(Naik) villagers arranges & handles all the ceremonies in temple.

The legend behind this temple says that, 100 & more years before when a farmer was ploughing his farm, he find a stone cut in three pieces & suddenly a blood came out. he preserve those three pieces at the same location, construct a small dome  & started to worship it. After some years, all the villagers started to come & pray for god. They mount an idol of Shri Jarimari in the form of 'Durga devi' with a 'Gada-a weapon' in one hand & rid on roaring lion. Those three stones are still mounted in front of diety.

Shri Ganesh Temple (Aadari)

Location :  1Km from Malvan jetty, on Anganewadi rd.

      By long ago, A Ganesh idol found at the bank of Aadari creek. The people built a small temple at the same location which is known as Ganesh Temple of Aadari. A hindu festival Maghi Ganesh comes in month Magh( January) is celebrated each year in this temple. On each Tuesday, many devotees come in temple to worship & pray the god.

Jay  Ganesh Temple (Medha)

     A malvani man, Mr Jayant Salgaonkar built this huge & stunning temple in 2004 as sanctity. It sits amidst of Medha, a small ward of Malvan. Now days, this temple is a great attraction for the Tourists. The sanctum internally a square & externally crowned with a graceful tower. A golden idol Ganesh is worshiped daily. A huge courtyard provides a serenity & invigorate the tourist. A carving sculptures on temple enchanting the viewer.

Malvan Taluka temple

Shri Bharadi Temple (Aanganewadi)

Location : 15 Kms away from Malvan Jetty, in Masure village, on Belana road to Kankavli

       This is very famous temple in Malvan Taluka. Various theories are viewed to explain the origin of the temple. One of them is that a cow belonging to one of the villagers used to discharge milk in the green wood which turned in a plaque. When the owner went out to look for the cow, he found the matter. On same day he got a divine message in his dream. He started to worship that stone of plaque. The word sprayed and people have since been visiting the place annually. Since the plaque was found in rocky soil (Bharad) the goddess come to be known as Bharadi.

      The date of annual fair at Anganewadi, in Masure known as parallel Pandharpur of Konkan, is announced in February each year. The name Anganewadi indicate predominance of people with surname Angane. According to a legend a goddess materialized in village in the form of a stone plaque, 400 years ago. Since then people have been flocking to a village for 'Darshan', every year. There is no fixed day or date for the fair. It is decided by consents.

     Although Anganewadi is a part of Masure village, a dispute between Devasthan committees of the two places led to the separation of Anganewadi from Masure. Yet that they are attached by faith in the goddess.

      Anganewadi temple is renewed just before 2 years.   This temple is built of plaque stone in the Nagara style of architecture is enclosed in a spacious courtyard. The sanctum internally a square and externally a stellar structure houses a small plaque. The sanctum is crowned with a graceful tower, crowned with a giant amalaka and a golden kalasha.

Shri sateri temple (Bilwas)

    12 Kms away from malvan, in Bilwas is situated on Masure road. An old & huge temple at the bottom side of Bilwas mountain is a great attraction of tourist. Shri Sateri is residency deity of Bilwas. This temple with huge sabhamandap built in 12-13th century. This temple was surrounded with lake water, so it’s called ‘Jalmandir’. But now days, only mud is spread over in the lake.        

   Legend behind the temple :  In old days, Bilwas was a part of Masure village. A Lake with clean water spread with greenery on its bank. Cattels were come across there to drink water. One day at noon, two buffalos started fighting in lake, suddenly a buffalo struck the anthill present in the lake, & bleeding started from that anthill. When cattle men knew about it, they got surprised & decided to built a temple on anthill. The lots of tourist & devotees come from Maharashtra & even from Kerala, Karnataka to worship & pray the diety.

Shri Wagheshwar temple with cave(Tondawali)
   
           This old temple sits amidst of Tondavali which is 24 Kms away from Malvan. A Shivlingam located in a cave of a big rock. Lots of people comes on each Monday to worship the Shivlingam. The legend behind this says that in old days Tondavali area was completely under the sea. When a sailors threw his net for fishing it get hooked up. Sailor unable to picked up his net so he kept it and cameon next day  to search. He found a Shivalingam trapped in the net. After some year by the storage of sand, a belt of land formed on the same location. The sailors built a temple over the location with their own contribution. On the back side of temple there was a bushy jungle with wild animals.  People says that in old days tigers were coming in the temple but never disturbed any mankind. So the temple is known as Wagheshwar temple. Just beside the temple there is a big rock in which a cave of size 80 Sq ft is carved. Many tourists come in Todavali to visit this religious & beautiful tourist spot.

Ozar- Shri Brahmanand swami Samadhi (Revandi)
    
      Ozar, Just 5 Kms away from Malvan Jetty, is a religious place near the village Revandi. This place is famous for a cave carved in old days. The legend says that this cave goes to the Sindhudurga fort by underground road. Shri Brahmanand swami made ‘Tapa’ (Meditation) here so after his death his tomb is constructed at the same place where he was sitting for meditation. There is a Shivalingam, image & idol of Shri Brahmanand swami, idol of Saibaba which are worshiped daily by villagers. Two reservoir, secluded serenity & lush greenery attract the tourists to this beautiful place.

Shri Rameshwar temple (Kandalgaon)
    
       Kandalgaon is a birth place of Narayanrao Rane. Before construction of Sindhudurga fort, Shivaji visited here & prays to Rameshwar for getting success in his newly accepted work. In Old days there was only a stone plaque in an open space. Shivaji constructed a dome shaped shelter over the plaque. Now, in renovation a huge temple is constructed but that dome is kept as it is. On front side of the temple, Shivaji planted a banyan tree which is known as ‘Shivajicha wad’.

Shri Bhadrakali temple (Revandi)
      
      The location of the Bhadrakali temple attract the tourist for it’s serenity & sanctity. It is 6 Kms away from Malvan. Shri Bhadrakali is Resident deity of Revandi village –A native place of famous actor Machhindra Kambali. This temple sits near sea coast so it’s mesmerizing beauty enchanting the tourist to visit again & again.

Bairagi Kasartaka (Chouke)
     
          It is 14 Kms away from Malvan on Nerur par road. Mostly in rainy season, Many tourist come here for enjoying the experience of self cooking of non-veg items like chicken & mutton. There is pure water stream flowing through rocks enchanting the tourist & invigorate to enjoy the life. Many friends group & families crowded this place in rain.

Shri Rameshwar temple (Achara)
 
           Rameshwar is the resident deity of Achara village. Kolhapurkar gifted this village to deity Rameshwar so its known as ‘Inamdar Shri Rameshwar’. Rameshwar temple of Achara has huge courtyard & self immersed Shivalingam in the sanctum. The sculptures of doorkeeper at the entry of temple enchant the tourist & make anxious to take 'darshan'. ‘Ramnavami’ is a famous festival celebrated in this temple.

Ghumadai temple (Ghumade)

           On a way to Kasal, there is left turn from kumbharmath goes to a evergreen village named Ghumade. A Stream flowing through two rocky hills flourishes the greenery of village.  Deity Gumadai is resident deity of village Ghumade. It is said that a stone plaque worshiped in Ghumadai temple is self immersed & appears in water of the stream. Many tourist  & pilgrims visit this location to  experience the secluded hidden beauty & sanctity of the spot.

Shri Sai Baba temple (Hadi)

         Hadi, a village situated on the bank of Kalawal river, just 11 Km from Malvan city and  7 Km from Achara. A jua island, spread in 60 hectors, a calm and quite hamlet in Kalawali creek is most suitable spot for backwaters. With serenity and ideal thoughts, Mr. Pandurang (Pandudada) Gavkar, a Sai baba devotee firmly resolves to construct temple of Shri Sai baba in this village. A pure handsome Marble Stone Statue of  Shri Sai Baba is installed in the temple. Regular puja, Archana and Bhajanas are conducted here and grand functions are celebrated on all important festive days with huge mass poor feeding and Prasad to all devotees. Many Donors have donated to this temple. 'A Sanstha' (organization) formed in this village handled and carries all the activities of temple by expending the interest of the donations. This organization also arranges marriage for poor families in only 1000/- Rs. Near about 400 legal marriages have done in this temple with the help of villagers and organization. Now days, this organization has started to construct a building for stay of devotees visiting in Malvan. Still the construction requires fund.
